Why can't I start exercising with ADHD?
Exercise with ADHD stalls because it feels like a big project: gear, travel, workout plan, shower. The ADHD brain sees the whole chain and skips it. The fix is to make the first move smaller than a workout — like one push-up or a walk to the mailbox.

Exercise feels like a project
Working out sounds simple, but it actually involves changing clothes, finding shoes, deciding what to do, doing it, showering, and recovering. The ADHD brain sees the whole project and decides it is too much.
Smaller than a workout
Make the first move laughably small: one push-up, a walk to the mailbox, or two minutes of stretching. Once you start, the body usually wants to continue. But the promise to yourself is only the first tiny move.
Remove the gear barrier
Work out in whatever you are wearing or keep shoes by the door. The fewer steps between the idea and the action, the more likely the action happens.
Pair with dopamine
Listen to music, a podcast, or an audiobook while moving. Exercise is easier when your brain has another reward to latch onto.
