How do you start homework with ADHD?
Start homework by ignoring the whole assignment and focusing on one question, one sentence, or one problem. The whole assignment is too big to start; a single question is not. Momentum comes from finishing the first tiny piece, not from understanding the whole thing.

The assignment is too big
Homework usually arrives as a whole: 'read chapter 4 and answer questions'. The ADHD brain sees the whole and cannot find the entry. You have to create the entry yourself.
Find the smallest question
Open the assignment and pick the smallest question or problem. If there are questions, do question 1. If there is reading, read one paragraph. If there is writing, write one sentence. The only rule is that you start with one thing.
Use the timer as a door
Set a 10-minute timer and tell yourself you can stop when it rings. The timer makes starting feel temporary and safe. Most students find they keep going past the bell.
